1) Full Day Salt River Canyon Whitewater Rafting Trip

Difficulty: Beg/Int Class III Meet: 10:00 am
Return: 4:00 pm at Hwy 60 and the Salt River

Our most popular trip. An unforgettable day in the majestic 2000′ deep Salt River Canyon begins with the pride of our company: the guides! Passionate, knowledgeable and fun, these professionals will take you through rapids such as Maytag and Overboard as well as the serenity of the Narrows and its beautiful volcanic cliffs. Half way through we stop at our river side base camp for a delicious hot lunch! Afterwards we tackle the longest and hardest rapids such as Exhibition (watch the show or be the show) and Mescal Falls. Enjoy the view of the river on the ride back to your vehicle on Apache Highway 1 which could be sold as an exciting trip in and of itself. This is an excellent trip for first-timers as well as seasoned rafters and is an easy day trip from Phoenix, Tucson, Flagstaff or Sedona. The fun, excitement and beauty of the Salt River Canyon has never failed to impress!

2) Salt River Canyon Wilderness Trip

Difficulty: Intermediate, Class IV Meet: 9:00 am at Hwy 60 and the Salt River
Return: 3:00 pm at Hwy 288 and the Salt River (We shuttle your vehicle as a courtesy saving 4 hrs of driving)

One of the country’s top ten multi-day raft trips. The Salt River Canyon Wilderness was federally protected in 1984 to preserve one of the premier river experiences in the U.S. on par with the Gates of Lodore in Colorado or the Rogue River in Oregon. We run all 52 miles of the Upper Salt River. Highlights include stout Class IV rapids such as Black Rock, The Maze, Quartzite Falls and Corkscrew. Side canyons Cibecue, Walnut, Hess and Yankee Joe contain quite pools and waterfalls supporting over 200 species of birds along with desert dwellers such as Coati, Javalina, Big Horn Sheep and Gila Monsters. The majestic Sonoran Desert fauna of countless wildflowers, Ocotillo, Sotol and towering Saguaro are complimented by the exotic geology of 1.4 billion year old granite and 800 year old Salado ruins. Trips are restricted to a maximum of 11 guest enhancing the solitude and serenity of one of the few remaining stretches of free flowing river in the southwest. Rental camping gear is available and dietary concerns met upon request.

3) Raft & Camp or Camp & Raft in the SRC

Return: 4:00 pm at Hwy 60 and the Salt River

Not sure if you like camping or being committed to a 2-4 day river trip? then this is the trip for you! Enjoy the full day raft trip with our riverside grilled lunch as well as the luxury and convenience of car camping at our riverside base camp just 3 miles off Hwy 60 at Second Campground. Open to the public much like a state park you can choose to camp before or after your raft trip at this beautiful spot in the Salt River Canyon. We will build you a campfire to relax around and cook a fantastic dinner and breakfast as only our multi-talented guides can do. There is plenty of time to fish or hike and to enjoy the stars. Come and discover if “roughing it” is for you! Rental camping gear is available and dietary concerns met upon request. Choose one of two options: raft and camp that night or camp and raft the next day.

 

4) Two Day Raft Trip in the Salt River Canyon

Difficulty: Beg/Int Class III-IV Meet: 9:00 am Return: 4:00 pm at Hwy 60 and the Salt River

This trip covers 20 miles of the Upper Salt River Canyon passing the rivers name sake Salt Banks and Salado Indian ruins sacred to the Apache. You will also float through the magical ruin granite gorge and challenge exciting rapids: Ledges, Rat Trap, White Rock and Canyon Creek. Outstanding meals are prepared riverside and the trip ends with an equally exciting return drive along Apache Highway 1 built in the 1880’s to connect Phoenix with Fort Apache. Rental camping gear is available and dietary concerns met upon request.

 

5) Half Day Raft Trip

Difficulty: Beg/Int Class III Meet: 10:00 am
Return: 1:00 pm at Hwy 60 and the Salt River
Adult $89 Youth (8-12, must weigh at least 50 lbs) $69

For those with time constraints or “just not sure.” This trip experiences the first half of the full day and does not experience the second half which contains the longest and biggest rapids as well as the Saguaros of the Sonoran Desert.
