Let Salt River Rafting help with the logistics of your private Salt River wilderness trip. We offer convenient and easy to reserve shuttles from the put-in to the take-out at the Highway 288 Bridge. The shuttle is typically 4 hours round-trip if everything works out well. You can reserve a shuttle for your whole group and each vehicle can pay us separately or pay for the whole thing with a credit card, get the bonus reward points, and have your group pay you back. You can even make tentative reservations online and firm up the details once everyone in your group has been sorted out! We’re here to make your life easier with a simple online reservation form or you can call us if you have any questions about the Salt River Wilderness, shuttles, or just need advice about meal planning or what to get your partner for Valentine’s Day.

Some Helpful Info:
Consider getting a White Mountain Apache Tribe permit in ADVANCE! The self-pay kiosk is sometimes available at the river, some years it is not. The permit to boat/camp is $25/person/day and if a tribal officer checks for your WMAT permit they will likely make you purchase two days since many trips do not make it past Gleason Flats the first day. Hiking/camping permit is $15/person/day. WMAT Online Permit
Wilderness permits from the Tonto National Forest are required for trips which launch between March 1st and May 15th. If you don’t have a permit from the Forest Service and are reading this it is okay, we have Wilderness Trips available all season and you can even pick the dates!

Last Chance/Closest Resources:
Showlow and Globe are the closest towns with resources. Both are approximately 1 hour from the put-in. They have big supermarkets for last minute food / supplies / adult beverages and stores like Tractor Supply and Auto-Zone. Both also have Wal-Marts just in case you forgot some camping gear or something similar.
There is no cell service at either the put-in or take-out. You will loose cell service ~15-30 minutes outside of both Showlow and Globe.
All the commercial river outfitters (like us) have our offices near the highway and the private trip put-in area but we live and camp down the dirt road at 2nd Camp. If your trip starts to turn into a disaster please don’t hesitate to ask any of us for help! Feel free to come visit us at 2nd Camp and say hi … bring beer!
